The Chaos Whisperer
Glen Ronald — the Chaos Whisperer — is a Canadian contemporary artist working from Edmonton, Alberta. His practice is rooted in uncertainty, chance, and the presence of beauty and meaning within chaos.
Glen creates unique, colorful subconscious paintings that contain many possibilities, using mixed media techniques to reveal his eclectic aesthetic. His images begin in a playful chaos, on the edge of oblivion where failure is a possibility. That is where he finds ideas and order within the chaos and pulls them out to create powerful, meaningful images — a mix of realism, abstraction, and surrealism.
The Process of Chaosmos
With a background in science comes a proactive approach to experimentation, and the studio can resemble a science lab at times. Glen received an Honours degree in Microbiology before pursuing fine arts — his passion.
Work begins with pouring, layering, scraping, and intuitive mark-making — situations where paint behaves unpredictably. Many pieces use combinations of poured mixed media with unpredictable ways of behaving.
Philosophy
Painting is a search for meaning within disorder — less about certainty, more about discovery. Order and chaos are not opposites; they are partners.
